Xbox 720 Durango Release Date

Not this year  according to Cedrick Delmas  who should be in the know, as Microsoft’s French Marketing Director as he looked to quell rumours of a 2012 release for the long awaited Xbox 720 Durango. Could this possibly be misinformation to confuse the competition though ? This isn't quite what games developer Crytek said though when they revealed that they were expecting a 2012 release. We'll hopefully soon see who is correct in their prediction.

With Nintendo fully expected to launch their Wii U later in 2012, with whispers that it could be sold as low as $299 in the United States, with a European launch price of £299 for the UK market. How will this stack up against the Xbox 720 in terms of price ?

It's far too early to even hazard a guess as to the latest Xbox pricing, but as people feel the pinch it will need to be either a very low cost price or to blow expectations in terms of performance out of the water if the pricing is quite a bit above the Wii U.  Will the price be a prohibitive factor ? We don't think it will, as you will always get the crowd of people who 'must have' the latest and trendiest gadgets. This is certainly one of those gadgets that people will want and want to have it quickly.

Who or what is Durango?

The new Xbox720 is going to be known as Durango. Durango is one of the 31 states in Mexico, situated in the North West of the country.

With 2 claims to fame, being known as the land of the scorpions thanks to the various different types found in the region and secondly that there have been more than 120 films made in the area,  mainly westerns which have made the most of the wonderful landscapes and views.

Maybe this could be the towns third claim to fame? Could this be what the Xbox 720 Durango is named after ?

Another possibility is the Southwestern Colorado town with 16000 residents, Durango is the largest town in Southwest Colorado. Durango sits at 6,512 feet above sea level meaning you get mild climate and can mountain bike  or hike in the summer or ski later on in winter, as the area gets an average 71 inches of snow per year.

Home of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad  you can visit and take a relaxing journey to view the canyons of southwest Colorado’s  wonderful picturesque San Juan National Forest.

Is this where one of the development team at Microsoft, had a vacation and decided that the name was as nice as the views ?

Ordering the Xbox 720 Durango

Is it worthwhile trying to pre-order a Xbox 720 Durango ? Hopefully there won't be any issues with not enough consoles being manufactured to cope with demand, as people have seen happen in the past with certain electronic 'must have' items. There is nothing worse than a manufacturer heavily promoting their launch only to discover they have run out of stock. Bragging rights could be seen as a factor in determining how quickly you order and get your Xbox 720 , just how jealous will your mates be when you have yours delivered ?
